[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] [Summary-Talk] Google Syndication
I'm looking for a way to better manage traffic coming in from Google Syndication. I create subreports for both PPC and non-paid traffic for my clients; I segregate the two by reporting on traffic in PPC for any traffic that uses a specific cgi tag in the offsite referrer (e.g. src=google). The problem I'm having is that, because Google Syndication traffic doesn't include the tag, it shows up in our nonpaid traffic subreport, rather than our PPC traffic subreport. We can't keep it in nonpaid, since it skews the nonpaid traffic significantly for some clients. No problem there, we can filter it from the main Filter config screen, by including *googlesyndication.com* in the "Visit initiating referrers to ignore" field. Unfortunately, I can't *add* it into PPC reporting, since it's not tagged... only tagged referrers will show up in our PPC reporting. I'll have to create a separate subreport to show just that one referrer, which is rather cumbersome. It would be much easier if there were a mechanism to add a "Visit initiating referrers to include" item that would include the referrer, even if it's not tagged. This kind of "add back in" filter could be useful in other filter combinations, too. Can any one else think of a use for this? Can we convince Jason to add it in? cheers Cameron Knowlton -- ----------------------------------------------- Cameron Knowlton iGods Internet Marketing cameronk@xxxxxxxxx www.igods.com P: 250.382.0226 ------------- Go to <http://summary.net/list.html> to update subscription info.
