Since my original post, I've set up a mirror machine running the
exact same setup as the one that is having the problems here.  It
hasn't had this bug occur for a week now, so I'm thinking of just
switching over to it full-time.

I have no idea why one machine does it and the other doesn't.  I've
run ram tests, etc, etc and just can't figure out a difference
between the two.  Who knows, maybe it will have problems once I make
it live - it may be some interaction between users accessing Summary
reports and processing trying to start at the same time.
