This web analytics tutorial shows you some of the things you can discover
about your visitors through analysis of your web site logs. It uses Summary
(including features in Summary Plus and Summary SP) to provide examples of
reports, but the knowledge gained can be applied to any traffic analysis tool.
You will benefit most if you have a copy of Summary installed to try out some of
the examples. In addition, you should be relatively comfortable navigating
around Summary and finding reports.

Example reports have a green border. |
If you are reading the tutorial from a running copy of Summary, you will have
some additional benefits. First, all references to reports will include links so
you can see that report in your own copy. Second, many of the examples and
sample data will be taken from your live reports, rather from the canned
examples that ship with the tutorial. So that you can tell which reports are
live and which are not, canned samples include a green border, such as the one
in the figure at right.
While you can follow the “Next” links at the bottom of each page
to read through the material, you might find it useful to use the Table of Contents to look up lessons as they become useful
to questions you encounter while using the reports.
